About the record

Korvaax is a running record of artificial intelligence, written for adults who live with the technology but do not build it. It reads like an almanac crossed with a reference book: dated entries, plain language, a summary you can take in quickly, one sentence on why the event mattered, and the original documents linked underneath.

The record opens on 15 March 2016, the last game of the match between AlphaGo and Lee Sedol in Seoul, and runs forward from there. Earlier years are filled in as they are researched. From September 2026 the record is kept month by month.

It is not a news site. An entry is written when the facts have settled and the primary documents are available, which is often weeks after the reporting.

Mohit Prasher keeps the record. He is the editor, writes the notes, and reviews every entry before it is published. A named human is accountable for every entry on this site, and that human is him.

Claude models, made by Anthropic, assist with the work. They compile dated fact sheets from sources, draft entries and year overviews against the editorial standard set out below, check links, and validate the structure of each file. No entry reaches the site without a person reading it, following its sources, and deciding it is right. Where a model wrote the first draft of a sentence, the responsibility for that sentence is still the editor’s.

Every entry carries at least one primary source: the paper, the official announcement, the filing, the transcript, the court’s own opinion. Where a reputable secondary account exists, it is cited alongside. No source, no entry.

• Dates are given to the day where the day is known, and marked as approximate where it is not.
• Names, versions and numbers are given exactly. A model is called what its maker called it.
• Claims are attributed. The record reports what was claimed and who claimed it, then what was disputed and who disputed it.
• A forecast is never written as a fact.
• Entries are ranked by significance from one to three. Three is reserved for events that changed what people believed machines could do, or changed law, markets or daily life at scale.
• Jargon is defined on first use or linked to the glossary.

Photographs of real people and real events are licensed, never generated, and carry their photographer and licence in the caption. Covers, plates and the running film on the front page are made for the record and are labelled as illustrations; they never depict an identifiable person or restage an event that actually happened.

It does not predict. It does not rank companies, score models against each other, or tell anyone what to buy. It does not treat a press release as a result, or a benchmark score as a description of the world. It carries no advertising and no sponsored entries.

It also does not pretend to be complete. There are gaps, and they are gaps of time and attention rather than judgement. A missing event is not a verdict on that event.

Corrections are public and permanent. When an entry is wrong, the text is fixed and a dated line is added at the foot of that entry saying what changed. The original claim stays visible in the correction. Entries are never quietly rewritten and never deleted.

To report an error, write to the editor with the entry’s address and the source that contradicts it. Corrections backed by a primary document are made the same week.

The nameplate and every headline are set in Bodoni Moda, the reading is Source Serif 4, and the navigation, captions and tables are Hanken Grotesk. All three are self-hosted; nothing is fetched from a third party when a page loads.

Built with Astro as a static site: no tracking, no analytics, no cookies. Search runs on Pagefind against an index built with the site. The only script the record ships is the one that runs the film on the front page, and it stops the moment you look away.
